TUITION GRANT

I do wish that they had offered this when I had attended S&M (class of 
'84). My mother and I were at the bottom of the economic scales. I seem 
to recall that I got free lunches at school, and I think we even got WIC 
vouchers for a while.

I ended up going to Carnegie-Mellon University on the promise of lots of 
financial aid (that dried up, leaving me forced to stop attending school 
full-time).

If there had been such a grant available, it's very possible that I 
might have stayed in North Carolina for my higher education.
