My Signature, Median Income, etc.

First of all, I think that resulting to personal attacks is a little
ridiculous, especially in this community. My EMAIL signature, which
coincidently, is the one I use on all my emails, is not up for discussion
nor should it be criticized by a group of educated professionals.
Regarding the median income, it is still as high as it was in the late 80s,
probably higher. The last report was done when I was a junior in '04, and
the median income was in the 80k range. However let's not forget about the
students on the low end of that spectrum. I personally would have not been
able to afford college without the tuition grant.
I agree that there must be some type of compromise. I do not feel that
nixing the grant altogether is the right thing to do. Again, I would like
to reiterate that there are deserving students across the state; we should
encourage our legislators to extend this incentive for achievement across
the board, NOT take it away from a talented group of students.
I would also like to update everyone of the status of the bill. It passed
its first reading in the House and was referred to the Appropriations and
Educations committees. If it goes on to pass in the House it will hit a
dead end in the Senate, as Senate Majority Leader Tony Rand is a staunch
supporter of the grant and is unlikely to support the bill even being read
on the floor. Compound that with Kay Hagan (a good woman despite Paul
Leubke's ridiculous personal attacks) and the countless other supporters of
the grant and I think you will see that this bill will be short lived.
