NCSSM Oral History site - RIP (sorta)

Let's get right to the point. My oral history web site
(http://www.barks.org/ncssm) is an embarrassment. The images have so
many, many inaccuracies in dates, attributions, and names that have not
been corrected.
I've come to the conclusion that I can't let it stand as is. (The final
straw was when I learned that the Wikipedia entry for NCSSM linked to it.)
I never really intended to collect the pictures anyway--I was shooting
more for the stories, but people had pictures that they sent, and at the
time it seemed like a good idea to include them.
I do, however, want to say that I am grateful to everyone who contributed
photos--in more than one case trusting me with one-of-a-kind prints--and
that I regret that my stewardship of them was not more thorough and
timely.
Between sites such as flickr, the photo album feature at ncssmalumni.com,
and the digital preservation project--none of which existed in 1999 when I
started this--I feel there's no unmet need that I'm satisfying by hosting
these pictures. So, in a week or so, I'm going to ditch all the photos.
I wanted to announce this so that you all will have a chance to grab
copies of any photos you want.
I am, however, going to keep the written pieces that people have
submitted, and I hope more of you will contribute. I'm considering moving
to something more modern like a wiki or something with tagging
capabilities. If anybody has any suggestions, let me know.
