Thanks everyone for the feedback. Here's a summary of all of the feedback I
received:
In general:
- The design was well-received, though those who were at the school before
the windows were made were lost as to what the design was.
- There is interest in something based on the burning diaper. Though I
believe that logo is not actively promoted by the school.
- There is interest in Unicorn-based designs
- There's frustration with the existing online store's offerings
- There is great concern that funds raised are to be restricted for student
programs
- Keychains aren't for everyone, there's interest in well-designed T-shirts
and sweatshirts.
Specific to this design
- Theres a line at about $10. Higher price points follow more of a "PBS"
model where you donate some money and get something as a gift.
- 40%-60% profit on fundraisers is typical.
- There were some questions on the material cost. I listed $6 on the
website, but this was rounded from $5.60. This includes the die fees
amortized across 300 keychains (almost $1 each) and bulk shipping from
overseas ($.50 each). I'm fairly confident that for 2" die-stamp, nickel
plate, 16-color enamel, with epoxy coating this is a fairly good cost. Also
these are relatively low volumes, which keeps it a little high.
What I am probably going to do is give this a try at $10/each with a small
S/H fee. If it goes well, it should raise over $1000. I need to get the
details on which fund I should be using (I'm thinking the Hurd fund, which
is restricted to residential programs) and then get the product on-order.
I'll keep people posted as to the progress.
+Chris
