i certainly see most of what you're getting at, especially the surliness
part. (spent some time at christmas with 11-year-old-sister and was amazed
that she has that down already!) however, i disagree about the bit about
things marked 'family' going unread. i know deanne - and some others on the
hall - couldn't wait for the next nonsensical letter from my daddy to give a
momentary distraction. so fine line, yes, but not impossible.
